Day 2 - 'Covered' and 'Washed Clean'

7-13-2028 Your sins have been “covered” by the blood of Jesus and you have been “washed clean” in the waters of your baptism.

This week our theme for the week is “Living Into Our Baptism.” Every day we are focusing on one aspect of baptism. Today was a fitting beginning to our work here this week, and quite apropos to the theme of baptism, given that we started the day working on a drop ceiling (literally “covers” all who come beneath the panels). I was amazed at how quickly we all fell into working with one another and the different roles. It was a great start to the day.

After a short break for lunch we went back into the basement to finish the ceiling. Once we emptied out all the tools and supplies, we dove into prepping the floor for painting (which happens tomorrow). Today’s prep work had us sweeping, vacuuming, and scraping the floor before treating it with a chemical wash. The shop vac came in quite handy as we had to “wash it clean” with buckets full on of water. Literally a baptism of sorts!

Although only Bob was able to meet and talk briefly with the resident of today’s home we worked on, all of us were blessed to connect/reconnect with our friends from the last time down here (Leya and Ralph) and made some new friends (Charles and Danny) who are all a part of the long term recovery efforts here in Carter County. It’s such a blessing to be in relationship with one another and connect/pray/serve as a part of the Body of Christ.
